SOYS

SOYS:-

Another important subject you should be aware of is recent studies on the detrimental effects of soy consumption across the population, but especially among the youth. For those of you who have read my articles over the years, you know that I grew up on soy milk and soy meat analogs and now suffer terrible headaches with even the smallest amount of soy. And I wrote an article several years ago about the potential dangers of soy.

When I first came to realize that soy was my nemisis, I had found my first documentation of problems with soy on the Internet. Since then many health newsletters have sounded the alarm about soy, and a comprehensive well-written book has been published, The Whole Soy Story, by Kaayla T. Daniel. In preparing for this article, I looked for updated information on the Internet, and boy, did I find it! It’s worth your efforts to learn why soy is losing its acceptance in the world of naturopathic doctors and health advocates. At some sites you’ll learn about soy’s links to cancer, hormonal imbalances, thyroid disorders, allergies, estrogenic effects on boys causing reproductive problems and effeminate characteristics, and girls beginning puberty at age 5 or younger. Remember, soy is regularly added to the meat in school lunch programs to not only "extend" the meat, but reduce the calories and cholesterol in school lunches to meet government requirements.

So, you may be eating more soy than you think. Soy is added to so many foods, it’s really difficult to avoid completely. With something this serious, it deserves your careful consideration before you "chow down" on it.If dairy products don’t suit you for some reason, diversify your non-dairy choices. Coconut, rice, and almond based milk substitutes may be much healthier in the long run than soy products. Variety is key. And variety may help you at least get a little bit of "the good stuff" while not getting too much of "the bad stuff" — whatever those things turn out to be!
